Project Overview
The project involved planning and implementing new domain sales, marketing, and after-sales processes, including the BEV agency model, which allowed direct vehicle orders from NSC/Volkswagen.
Challenges
Unifying Diverse Systems
The existing systems varied significantly across different markets and brands, making integrating them into a single unified platform challenging. Volkswagen AG had to deal with many legacy systems tailored to specific regional and brand requirements. Each system had unique features and processes critical to its operation, making it challenging to create a one-size-fits-all solution. The project demanded extensive analysis and customization to ensure the unified platform could cater to all these varied needs without compromising functionality.
Implementing BEV Agency Model
Developing a system that supported direct vehicle orders from NSC/Volkswagen required significant changes to existing processes and workflows. The new model needed to be seamlessly integrated with existing sales channels while ensuring it could handle high volumes of direct orders efficiently. This involved redesigning the sales process, developing new software components, and ensuring all stakeholders aligned with the new workflow.
Enhancing IT Capabilities
There was a need to optimize the functional and technical capability model to support a wide range of requirements. The IT infrastructure had to be scalable and flexible to adapt to market demands and future growth. This required upgrading existing systems, integrating new technologies, and ensuring the infrastructure could support current and future business needs.
Coordination Across Brands
Ensuring seamless coordination of IT activities across multiple brands within the Volkswagen group posed a significant organizational challenge. Effective communication and collaboration strategies aligned with different brands’ IT initiatives and goals. This involved setting up cross-functional teams, regular meetings, and a robust project management framework to ensure all brands were on the same page and working towards common goals.
